Below is a sample two-day itinerary that allows plenty of time to see Mackinac State Historic Parks “living history” museums and shop at the unique Visitors Center/Museum Stores that are located within each park. We can help modify this itinerary to accommodate your group’s needs (email mackinacparks@michigan.gov) or you can choose to create an itinerary of your very own.
DAY ONE
10:00 a.m. Arrive in the Straits of Mackinac region. Tour Historic Mill Creek.
12:30 p.m. Picnic lunch at the picnic tables within Michilimackinac State Park.
1:30 p.m. Tour Colonial Michilimackinac.
4:00 p.m. Check in at Straits of Mackinac lodging facility; rest, relax, shop or stroll (if staying on island, board ferry around 3:00 p.m.)
5:00 p.m. Dinner at a Mackinaw City/Mackinac Island restaurant of your choice. The evening is yours to create and enjoy!
DAY TWO
Option #1 (if staying in Mackinaw City)
8:00 a.m. Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Visit Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse
10:30 a.m. Board ferry to Mackinac Island from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace
11:00 a.m. Carriage tour of Mackinac Island
12:30 p.m. Visit Fort Mackinac, lunch at Fort Mackinac Tea Room
1:15 p.m. Tour Fort Mackinac
4:00 p.m. Visit Historic Downtown Mackinac
Head back to Mackinaw City on boat of your choosing – explore Mackinac Island!
Morning Option #2 (if staying on Mackinac Island)
8:00 a.m. Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Carriage tour of Mackinac Island
10:45 a.m. Tour Fort Mackinac
12:00 a.m. Lunch at Fort Mackinac Tea Room
1:00 p.m. Explore Historic Downtown Mackinac
3:00 p.m. Rent bikes, explore Mackinac Island State Park
The rest of the evening is yours to explore!
