Fort Mackinac can be summed up in a single word: iconic. Fort Mackinac is an authentic Revolutionary War-era fort, built by the British, and has been standing guard over Mackinac Island for nearly 240 years. Located on the bluff overlooking Mackinac Island’s downtown and the Straits of Mackinac, Fort Mackinac provides a stunning and memorable wedding location.
If you wish to view Fort Mackinac, please call to schedule a visit. The Fort is open to the public, and you may also view it without an appointment. Dates and times fill up fast and are reserved on a first come, first served basis.

Weddings may be scheduled at Fort Mackinac from early May through October. All wedding reservations include a 2-hour time block for decorating, ceremony, pictures, and clean-up. Rehearsals can also be scheduled the day before.
Wedding may be scheduled from early May through October. May, September, and October wedding ceremonies can be scheduled to begin between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. In June, July and August weddings must start between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Weddings are only allowed to start after Fort Mackinac closes to the public, allowing exclusive use of the fort.
The benches lining the parade ground within Fort Mackinac will be used for seating. Additional chairs (up to 200) are $2.00 each. The Upper Gun Platform, the Officer’s Wood Quarters front porch, and other locations within the fort are available by pre-arrangement for wedding ceremonies.
A Mackinac State Historic Parks representative will be available throughout the ceremony. In the case of inclement weather, Mission Church will be the designated weather back-up.
Fort Mackinac is also available for your wedding reception. Food and beverage service for your Fort Mackinac reception is handled through the Fort Mackinac Tea Room restaurant, operated by Grand Hotel.
