National Lighthouse Day: Celebrating the ‘Castle on the Straits’

August 7, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm EDT

Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse has served as a point in the storm and guiding beacon on the Straits of Mackinac for more than 130 years. On this National Lighthouse Day, join the interpretive staff of Old Mackinac Point for special programs celebrating the “Castle on the Straits.” All special programs included with regular admission.

ABOUT OLD MACKINAC POINT LIGHTHOUSE: A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens, a chance to explore the second floor of the house, tours of the lighthouse tower, a movie, Shipwrecks of the Straits, and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum make this “Castle of the Straits” a true gem of the Great Lakes. #thisismackinac
