The Lighthouse Information Center is in the 1907 Fog Signal House, a small brick building east of Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Planning Your Visit NOTE: Tours to the top of the lighthouse tower are available. The climb is about 4 stories via 51 steps and an 11-rung, vertical ladder through a narrow access opening. Accessibility Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse is currently under restoration, and certain areas are open to the public. The grounds of Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse and the approach from the parking lot is grass lawn. The Fog Signal Building and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse are equipped with ramps.
