Project Overview

THE ADVENTURE TOUR

What does the Adventure Tour consist of? A park naturalist will guide you on the nature tour, talking about the wildlife and plant life within the park. You will cross the Forest Canopy Bridge and then soar down the Eagle’s Flight Zip Line. The Nature Trail Climbing Wall, currently under construction, will be part of the tour come late June.

How much does the tour cost? The Adventure Tour costs $5 per person per tour in addition to general park admission.

What if I want to take the zip line but not go on the bridge, or vice-versa? You can still do this. The Adventure Tour costs the same, whether one, two or three of its features are utilized.

How long will the tour last? Approximately 40 minutes

Where does the tour begin? At the Treetop Discovery Tower/Nature Trail Climbing Wall

What are the requirements of participation in the tour? You must:
  • weight between 50 – 250 pounds
  • be a minimum of 4 feet tall
  • wear shoes that are securely attached to your feet (no flip-flops or loose fitting sandals) and no skirts or dresses
  • sign a Waiver of Liability form (Children must have a parent or legal guardian sign.) Forms are provided at the park.
  • purchase an Adventure Tour ticket from the Visitor’s Center before taking the tour
Must a parent or legal guardian accompany children? Yes, if you’re under 12 years old, you must have a parent or legal guardian accompany you on the tour.

How soon before the tour starts should I be at the tour start station? You should be at the picnic shelter at least five minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin. You must bring your Adventure Tour ticket and signed waiver of liability form with you.

What if it rains? For safety reasons, Adventure Tours will be suspended if it rains. If you’ve already purchased your ticket, your money will be refunded.

Adventure Tour tickets are timed tickets. Space on each tour is limited. Please expect a 20-90 minute average time frame between the purchase of your ticket and the beginning of your tour. You will know your Adventure Tour begin time when purchasing your Adventure Tour ticket. Many other activities are available while waiting for your tour, including historical demonstrations, nature programs, and 3.5 miles of nature trails

What other new features were added to the park? Children will discover an appreciation for nature and history by playing in the Water Power Station, sponsored by  Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op, our local Touchstone Energy Cooperative, and in the Forest Friends Play Area.  Plus, visitors can take advantage of the Treetop Discovery Tower, which is due to be completed by the end of June.  Climb 40-feet to the top of the tower and view the nearby Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Island from the prospective of an eagle.

Why were all of these new features chosen to be part of Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park? These features were carefully chosen because they will have minimal impact on the environment and promote an appreciation for and understanding of the parks many natural resources while also offering fun and exciting adventures for guests. Visitors will be guided in small groups through the nature course while the guide informs them of the many different plant and animal species present in the Mill Creek environment. In addition, the trail work that we are undertaking will allow visitors to access many peaceful, scenic locations along the creek that weren’t universally accessible to everyone only a few years ago.
