    Born and educated in Michigan, Bill Murcko is a nationally recognized and awarded portrait artist. In this workshop you will learn drawing and observation techniques working from a live model dressed in period costume as you create your own drawings in charcoal and/or graphite.     Shanna Robinson - Natural Dyes

    How does color stay in fabric through use and washing? A mordant is used to help the pigment adhere to the fiber and to produce a particular shade of each color. We will experiment with three different mordants to produce different shades of a color using just one plant.
    Employing some simple clamping techniques and a few quick steps, each student will produce one beautiful silk scarf.

    Let Mackinac Island be an inspiration, as you render a whimsical piece of art, in cut and torn paper. Collage is a fun and friendly form of art, and perhaps the easiest medium to use. Learn to cut, tear, layer, and arrange to form a pleasing composition. Enjoy an evening of creative play and leave with a finished piece of original art.
